Vodka Martini

Though technically not a true martini, the vodka martini (or vodkatini) is preferable to people that don’t enjoy the taste of gin.  Thanks to the fictional spy James Bond and his famous request, “shaken, not stirred,” this cocktail has gained popularity.  Unlike 007, however, shaking is not preferred because it clouds the drink and the colder temperatures achieved dull the subtle flavors of the spirits.
In the early James bond films, Smirnoff vodka had the product placement rights.

2½ ounces vodka
1½ teaspoons dry vermouth
1 or 2 cocktail olives

In a mixing glass half-filled with ice cubes, combine the vodka and vermouth.  Stir well.  Strain into a cocktail glass.  Garnish with the olives.
